I have found many instances recently when this has applied - missing the odd business deal etc. But I think a better bit of wisdom would be one that told you whether it was the right time to hesitate or not!
Not necessarily. Sometimes it's best to hesitate than to say the wrong thing.

As pointed out with the example of "look before you leap", all of these old sayings have their opposites.
The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.
Agree. John Cena could not beat the Undertaker on his ultimate day. The Undertaker ought to proceed to be undefeated at Wrestlemania. If Cena beat him, then WWE ought to formally be referred to as having the dumbest, maximum idiotic reserving team of all wrestling agencies. If men like Shawn Micheals, Ric flair, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, and so on. could not beat the Undertaker, then Cena certainly can not. no one ought to ever beat the streak. end of tale.
I don't agree with this. It depends on what is being offered. Say you are blind folded and told to take four steps to find what awaits you. Do you start walking or will you hold back? On this one it is good to stop and think. Ahead of you, is what you don't see. A 60 foot drop! So in some cases it is good to hesitate. Poppy
