Teacher called me a liar?
'm a freshmen in college, and I understand that at a university the teachers are much more outspoken, but could someone tell me if this teacher was out of line? I basically told him at the end of class that I couldn't send my assignment since my harddrive had crashed twice since the last time I saved that specific document. He then proceeded to call me a bullshitter and that I was a liar. I tried to reaso with him and tell him there was really no incentive for me to lie about this, and then he proceeded to call me a bullshitter once again. I stormed out of his classroom and intend to withdraw from the class now, was he out of line at all?See Answer 10 Add Answers
Well, you'll be surprised how many excuses teachers hear everyday. Take this as a lesson. Store your assignments on a memory stick from now on so you can print them at school.
Alright, i've read all the responses and I doubt if people really want to help this guy who has been ridiculed by his prof for apparently no reason at all.
I completely hear you mate. Even if you are in his course now, you wouldnt really have your heart and soul in it since you had a bad experience. The prof also wouldnt turn around and apologize for his dumb act.
I say you got two options. One is you talk it out with him mano-o-mano .. with a more stern voice. Tell him that he is out of line when he says you are a bullshitter.. If I were you, I would just shout so that the whole class could hear you.. go ... " WHAT .. You called me a BU******" ??
A decent way is to take this to the dean though.
My well wishes with you.
Well I think that it is both of your faults. To be honest it was your fault for not turning in the assignment. And don't, but my hard drive me, have some self reflection skills and say that, that part was your fault. But on the other hand your teacher was a little out of line by calling you a liar. Just go up and tell your teacher that you are sorry and that you have to paper right here. Then wait if he goes off on you again say something to him. But if he says nothing act like nothing happened and suck it up.
It may seem that way. However you have to understand that he probably has heard that excuse a thousand times, probably since the use of personal computers.
Put yourself in his shoes. You may be telling the truth, but the hundreds of students that went before you crying wolf, probably ruined it for people that really have hd crashes.
Suck it up. The world isn't going to get any fairer when you graduate. Grow a thicker sking and move on.

His reaction was unprofessional, but to most professors it's not going to matter if your computer explodes, you still need to get the assignment done. Save it to a flash drive next time so you can complete it at the library if necessary.
Since you stormed out I'd probably withdraw from the class too if I still could without getting a W on the transcript. He's probably never going to like you again. Your reaction was unprofessional, too.
