What is your famous thought or quote of the Day?

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY: It is well to know something of the manners of various peoples, in order more sanely to judge our own, and that we do not think that everything against our modes is ridiculous, and against reason, as those who have seen nothing are accustomed to think. -Rene Descartes, philosopher and mathematician (1596-1650)

From my much treasured and battered book "The Perpetual Pessimist" which has a dark, cynical or depressing saying for every day of the year.

May 20th: Pain is life - the sharper the more evidence of life.  (Charles Lamb)

I'm looking forward to May 27th.  The quote of the year.

My thoughts today is,, In the end you cant be nothing but yourself.

I am a hippie like person who lives in an enviroment that requires a proper and a clean cut image, been trying my whole life to be like that but in the end i end up as my hippie like nature. You cant be anything but yourself, hmmmm that felt nice telling it like that, a little freeing you know

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.

                      - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Heroism on command, senseless violence, and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism - how passionately I hate them!

                      - Albert Einstein

If there is no Cross there is no crown.

I wrote down this quotation in 1986, but didn't write down the author, unfortunately:

A billion seconds ago it was 1951.

A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

In Washington, it only takes the government 10 hours and 20 minutes to spend a billion dollars.

It does not matter whether or not something IS true, only that it is believed to be true.
