The Thinking Center is both an online school and an academy. The academy is located in Sarasota, FL. The online academy is world-wide. The McKay scholarship and Florida Tax Credit scholarship are both accepted for both the academy and online schooling. Those scholarships are only if you live in Florida and qualify for them. They probably accept other scholarships, but I don't know. You would have to contact them.

There are actually three home-school options (even though I am a STRONG Supporter of Public school and think that it is the best bet)

1. There are many online programs that you can go through, where all the work is done by the student and you get to occasionally talk with a teacher via web cam, email, skype conference.

2. You could hire a private tutor. which will give you one on one attention and has a background in education which is always a plus.

3. A lot of communities are starting home-school groups, which are a group of people that get together and do classes that are taught by teacher and parents.

Yes, I know of many people who found others ways to be home schooled. One person I know was home schooled in a group. One parent would teach a bunch of kids on the street. He also was home schooled through certain programs. You could pay a certain program to create a curriculum for you and they will send you your curriculum periodically. It would then be up to you to do the work and send it in. Also you could hire a personal tutor. Check the internet for sources to see what you can do.

Good Luck

I use keystone national high school which has 3 or 4 different programs. Online which is where you have teachers and my mom has never helped me with my school work. Its all online and if you have problems you ask your teacher either via email or phone call. They also have a few other programs but if you don't want your parents teaching you I would say online is your best bet. I'm very impressed with keystone so check it out at www.keystonehighschool.com GOOD LUCK!!!

Yes you can teach yourself. A lot of people have given you their opinions and no facts though. If you want to be home schooled first you need to know the laws in your state. You can get them at www.hslda.org. that will tell you what your states require and be the best gauge of wether you can teach yourself.

There are programs out there like Switched on Schoolhouse (Christian) or k12 (secular) so you have to decide what kind of education you want. There are also a ton of corrispondence courses and online courses. You just have to look and decide how you would like to learn.

Good Luck !
