question about personal statement for college?

I am going to be applying to college this fall and some of my friends have started writing their personal statements. how exactly do you begin? is it different for every school you apply to?

Yes, your personal statements are different for every college you apply to. Each college asks you slightly different information. The essay/short answer questions are usually very different since each college and/or major is looking for something different.

In general, applications will ask you about what you have accomplished and how what you have done over your high school years has impacted you. Just be sure to state your positive attributes. For example, state what sports teams you were on, what clubs you were in, if you were on the honor role, leadership positions, or work experience. Colleges love to see that you are independent, involved, and hard-working. Don't be afraid to "brag" a little!
