hindi is the word for turkey in Turkish.

Now I am wondering what the Turkish for the language spoken in Hindustan is ... and what the word for for Turkey is in Hindi!!

If there are turkeys in Turkey, they are not indigenous. The turkey is found wild in North America. Apparently, when the Spaniards brought the first birds back to Europe, they were thought to be the same as a bird that, in England, was known as the turkey because, although it came from Africa, it came via Turkey. (The same thing happened with Guinea Pigs, which didn't come from Guinea and are not pigs.) Somehow the Turkey got lumbered with the wrong name and it followed it back to it's homeland.

In Turkey, they speak "Turkish."  So turkeys, although not native to the country of Turkey, are called "Türkiye."

I would imagine turkeys are called the Turkish for 'turkeys' in Turkey.

According to the ectaco.co.uk English -> Turkish word translator, the Turkish for 'turkey'(as in the bird) is 'türkiye'.

I hope this information helps!

Turkeys.

I found a Turkish translation on the internet, but:

The word "turkeys" does not exist in the dictionary, yet.

Look that word up again later.
