I probly agree, though I'm a cautious optimist.
Then there is the quote a rose by any other name.....
Or the thought or Rose color glasses, denying that thorns exist, (metaphors exist too)
I guess I'm as much a situational pessimist
Is the rose symbolic of the optimist/pessimist?
If so emphasizing the fact that the rose (person) is still beautiful regardless of it's thorns (flaws)
but surely a true optimist will see the thorns (flaws) but still choose to focus on the good.
The pessimist part is perfect though, how pessimists only ever seem to see the bad in things, and make a conscious decision to focus on the bad regardless of the good!
very lovely metaphorical quote! (my perception of it)
I like it, but I don't believe it's totally accurate. For example, I would consider myself an optimist. However, that doesn't mean I'm totally oblivious to everything bad that happens in the world; I just decide to accept those things for what they are and focus more on good. True optimism is seeing everything, the rose and the thorns, and just not letting the thorns hurt your spirit.
I do not think an optimist ignores the danger of something (thorns) while be taken in by the beauty of something; their view is to always see the positive in something; it does not mean they ignore the rest. I also do not think a pessimist ignores the beauty of something, but they are known for pointing out the negative to others only. I do not care for the quote.
The optimist sees the goodness in the thorns too, as protector for the rose.
Obviously optimist is a positive person and on the other pessimist is a negative person who finds negativity in ever thing while the optimist finds positivity in those things.its Great that which type of person you are.....you find the same things. Its all depends upon your opinions about things and your thoughts.which sort of thoughts you have...you will get the same things. Its on you that whether you look at rose or thorns.
It seems to me that the optimist is going to get a little surprise when he goes to touch the rose. The pessimist mentioned in the quote is very careful and knows what he is getting into when he is going to touch the stem.
The pessimist wins this round.
My thoughts are this the optimistic individual is able to see the positive side of situations and things hence the beauty in them where as the pessimistic individual only can see the thorns and the glass half full or only darkness so to speak making them oblivious to the beauty around them. I really like this quote!
The optimist sees the light that comes out of the candle. The pessimist sees the candle melting, oblivious to the light.
A person who always thinks positive sees the beauty or the good in everything and rules out the negative. However, a person who thinks negative only sees the bad, so are unable to see the beauty or good in the midst of turmoil. Therefore, they cannot even see the rose and just focus on the thorns.
